About the Role:

The Surgical Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless scheduling and management of surgical procedures. This position requires close collaboration with surgeons, patients, and medical staff to coordinate all aspects of surgical care from pre-operative preparation through post-operative follow-up. The coordinator acts as a liaison to facilitate clear communication, manage patient documentation, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Being bilingual in Spanish and English, the coordinator will effectively bridge language barriers, enhancing patient experience and care quality for Spanish-speaking patients. Ultimately, this role contributes to the efficient operation of surgical services, improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior medical office experience, and surgical scheduling.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to surgery and patient care.
  • Familiarity with insurance processes and healthcare billing.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures by communicating with surgeons, patients, and medical teams to confirm availability and requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providing clear instructions and answering questions regarding surgical preparation and post-operative care.
  • Manage and maintain accurate patient records, surgical documentation, and insurance authorizations to ensure compliance with healthcare policies.
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal departments and insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain necessary approvals for surgical procedures.
  • Facilitate communication between multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely and efficient surgical workflow.
  • Provide bilingual support to Spanish-speaking patients, ensuring they fully understand surgical processes and instructions.
  • Monitor and track surgical schedules to optimize resource utilization and minimize delays or cancellations.
  • Assist office staff with general receptionist duties.
