Reports to Title: Engineering Manager

Under general direction, the main responsibilities of this Design Engineer will include design projects being implemented into production with a CAD focus around labor reduction, warranty reduction, and daily Scientific orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize drafting software to prepare drawings, wiring diagrams, and shop prints as necessary.
  • This will include SolidWorks and Autocad, with possible future avenues.
• Evaluate shop processes and warranty data to create a project funnel of improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate regularly with project teams responsible for precise execution of highly profitable projects requiring custom engineered solutions.
• Execute projects in the project funnel with regards to sheet metal/polymer design for the engineering department through collaboration with management.
• Work directly with Electrical Engineering staff as well as the Chief Engineer/Project Engineers to create and amend electrical diagrams.
• Participate in continuous training and development of lab technicians, technical service, manufacturing associates, authorized service agents, and others as required.
• Seek out product and process improvements and help drive them through to completion via the Company ECN process.
• Some travel across manufacturing facilities will be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of refrigeration systems is preferred
• Considerable knowledge of sheet metal design is preferred
• Considerable knowledge of controls/electrical design is preferred
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD (preferred) or other computer-aided design software.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively regarding complex and highly technical subject matter.
• Skill in planning and organizing work including projects of significant complexity.
• Ability to evaluate data, troubleshoot problems, and generate solutions.
• Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Project.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Preferably 5 years of work experience in CAD design.
