POSITION SUMMARY:
Viking is seeking a self-motivated Municipal/Industrial Sales Representative to join our growing team and manage a sales territory covering Louisiana and East Texas. This position will focus on developing new business and building long-term relationships with municipalities, utilities, engineers, and industrial customers to secure water tank maintenance programs, inspection, and coating projects.

The position operates primarily in a remote/field-based environment with frequent travel throughout the assigned territory based on customer needs and business opportunities. The ability to safely climb water tanks and towers for customer assessments and evaluations is an essential requirement of the position.
This position offers a base salary plus commission, providing an opportunity to increase earnings based on sales performance and success within the territory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, engineers, utilities, and industrial customers to promote Viking’s water tank maintenance, inspection, and coating services.
- Identify, develop, and close new sales opportunities from initial contact through project award.
- Prospect for new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, industry research, and other business development activities.
- Take ownership of the assigned territory by developing and maintaining a strategic weekly and monthly sales itinerary focused on customer relationships, new opportunities, and revenue growth.
- Conduct customer visits, water tank assessments, and inspections as needed to identify maintenance needs and develop project opportunities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through consistent follow-up, inspection report delivery, project communication, and ongoing customer support.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and other customer-facing materials.
- Attend and present at city council meetings to communicate project recommendations and secure approvals.
- Work closely with Viking’s Operations team to ensure projects are effectively transitioned and delivered in accordance with customer expectations.
- Participate in industry trade shows, conferences, networking events, and other business development activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely customer, opportunity, and sales information within the CRM system.
- Prepare sales documentation, expense reports, proposals, and other administrative materials as required.
- Monitor market conditions and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and strengthen Viking’s position within the territory.
- Manage the territory strategically to maximize sales performance, develop long-term customer relationships, and achieve established sales goals.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven sales experience required; municipal, industrial, construction, infrastructure, or related B2B sales experience preferred.
- Experience selling to municipalities, utilities, or industrial customers is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout Louisiana and East Texas, including overnight travel and occasional out-of-state travel for customer meetings, trade shows, conferences, and company events.
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to confidently communicate with and present to municipal officials, city councils, engineers, utility representatives, and other decision-makers.
- Ability to interpret construction specifications, bid documents, proposals, and contracts.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and professional customer correspondence, inspection documentation, and reports.
- Highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of results.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a large territory and multiple sales opportunities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and CRM systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
- Professional appearance and demeanor with a strong commitment to customer service.
- Ability to safely climb water towers and tanks, including structures up to 150 feet or higher, while properly using required fall protection and safety equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as required by customer visits, inspections, and project needs.
- Ability to meet the physical and safety requirements necessary to perform water tank assessments and related field activities.
