Regulatory Compliance Trade Paralegal

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regulatory Compliance Trade Paralegal based in the United States.

This role provides an opportunity to support an established legal or compliance function focused on international trade and regulatory requirements. You’ll help manage day-to-day compliance activities involving imports, exports, customs, sanctions, and related controls. Working under the guidance of attorneys or senior compliance professionals, you’ll contribute to accurate and efficient legal processes. Your work will include research, documentation, transaction reviews, reporting, and coordination across legal, compliance, and business teams. The role is well suited to a detail-oriented paralegal who enjoys navigating regulatory requirements and supporting practical business solutions. You’ll gain exposure to complex trade compliance matters while developing your expertise within a structured professional environment. Accountabilities
  • Support attorneys and senior compliance professionals with day-to-day trade compliance matters.
  • Research and track applicable import, export, customs, and sanctions requirements.
  • Help assess transactions, business activities, and supporting documentation for potential regulatory compliance issues.
  • Organize and maintain trade compliance records, procedures, documentation, and related materials.
  • Coordinate with legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to gather information and support internal reviews.
  • Assist with preparing compliance reports, guidance materials, procedures, and other internal documentation.
  • Help ensure trade compliance processes remain organized, accurate, and aligned with applicable requirements.
  • Contribute to broader legal and compliance initiatives under appropriate attorney or senior professional direction.
Requirements
  • Prior experience as a paralegal supporting a legal, regulatory, or compliance team.
  • Familiarity with trade compliance, import/export controls, customs requirements, or sanctions matters.
  • Strong research, organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while working effectively under the direction of attorneys or senior compliance professionals.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with legal, compliance, and business stakeholders.
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Exposure to U.S. export controls, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) or International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions or customs requirements is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting trade compliance processes within an established legal or compliance environment is preferred.
