As a Lab Technician, you’ll bring your experience to meaningful projects that shape the communities we serve. You’ll perform laboratory testing on materials such as soils, concrete, and other building materials. This position is responsible for accurate collection, testing, analysis, documentation, and reporting of laboratory samples and data.

What You’ll Do
As a Lab Technician, you’ll serve as a trusted professional and will be responsible for processing samples and testing them in accordance with applicable standards and company policy while ensuring high standards of quality. You will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and calibrations and following established safety procedures.
You’ll:
- Analyze and report testing data and maintain testing records
- Enter laboratory results into Microsoft Office programs and other technical programs as required
- Communicate effectively with office and field personnel
- Follow established test methods, procedures, and quality-control requirements to ensure accurate and consistent test results
- Perform field testing and other tasks as needed to support GMC projects and operations

- Keep the laboratory clean, orderly, and free of unnecessary clutter
- Maintain laboratory equipment and calibrations as required by the GMC Quality Manual and applicable procedures
- Keep equipment, materials, samples, and testing records organized and properly identified
- Recognize any safety concerns and immediately correct or advise management

What You’ll Need
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Laboratory, construction materials testing, construction, or related experience is preferred; however, relevant experience will be considered, and the position is open to candidates with varying levels of experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain certifications pertinent to the position. ACI Strength and Aggregate Base certifications are required within six months of employment.
- The ability to follow detailed procedures, test methods, and written instructions accurately and consistently
- The ability to perform mathematical calculations using high-school-level algebra and related concepts
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Where You’ll Work
Work is primarily performed inside a laboratory and office environment; however, it also requires time outside in a construction environment. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, repetitive movements, fine motor skills, and physical motions such as bending, stretching, twisting, etc. You must have the ability to work in warm and/or cold conditions as well as the ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Travel: 5%; generally, not expected
