Clinical/Medical Assistant – Orthopaedics

Full-Time | On-Site | Vero Beach & Sebastian

CMAs, CNAs, ATCs, EMTs, LPNs and other candidates with hands-on clinical experience are encouraged to apply!

Orthopaedic experience is NOT required. We are willing to train the right person.

The Position

Our Clinical Assistants work alongside our physicians and physician assistants to provide hands-on patient care throughout the clinic.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a clinical background who wants to grow their skills and learn orthopaedics. Depending on your previous experience, we will provide training in areas such as casting, bracing, suture removal, orthopaedic procedures, and our clinical workflows.

What You'll Do
  • Assist physicians and physician assistants with patient care in the clinic

  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits

  • Record and update medical histories and clinical information in the electronic medical record

  • Assist with casting, bracing, injections, and other in-office procedures

  • Perform cast and suture removal

  • Provide patient education and instructions

  • Complete patient phone triage and follow up on patient requests

  • Act as a liaison between patients and their medical providers

  • Stock and maintain exam rooms and clinical supplies

  • Clean instruments following procedures and prepare them for sterilization

  • Help keep the clinic running efficiently in a busy, team-oriented environment

  • Travel between our Vero Beach and Sebastian offices as needed

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is dependable, compassionate, comfortable working directly with patients, and ready to learn.

Candidates with backgrounds such as the following are encouraged to apply:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

  • Athletic Trainer (ATC)

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Other clinical or direct patient-care experience

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Clinical certification, licensure, education, or previous patient-care experience preferred

  • Orthopaedic experience is a plus, but not required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Comfortable learning electronic health record systems and clinical workflows

  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, providers, coworkers, and patients

  • Willingness to learn new clinical skills and procedures

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to perform clinical duties
