Job Description
The Canalta Group of Companies is a privately held, Canadian-owned company focusing on the manufacturing and service of industrial control and measurement equipment. We primarily serve the gas industry and supply customers internationally. We are currently hiring a Project & Procurement Coordinator to join our team at our head office in Red Deer, Alberta.
This role combines customer project coordination with purchasing and procurement improvement. You will help keep projects moving from quotation through shipment while working with suppliers and internal departments to improve sourcing, control costs, and support production requirements.

What You Will Do
- Support Sales during quotation by reviewing project requirements and coordinating information on material availability, production capacity, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate assigned customer projects from order handover through final shipment, tracking schedules, outstanding actions, and customer requirements.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other departments to coordinate drawings, documentation, inspections, and project deliverables.
- Provide project updates and flag potential material, schedule, or technical concerns to support timely resolution.
- Obtain and compare supplier quotations, prepare purchase orders, and follow up on orders and deliveries.
- Evaluate suppliers, pricing, lead times, freight, and overall purchasing value, and negotiate terms within established authority.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, improved sourcing, supplier performance, and inventory optimization.
- Maintain accurate project, purchasing, and supplier information in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
What You Need
- High school diploma or equivalent. Related post-secondary education in supply chain management, business administration, or project management is preferred.
- Minimum two years of relevant experience in project coordination, purchasing/procurement, supply chain, or a combination of these functions.
- Experience reviewing quotations, coordinating orders and deliveries, and maintaining accurate records.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and employees across departments.
- Ability to analyze project requirements and purchasing costs, solve problems, and identify practical improvements.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Manufacturing or industrial experience, familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and supplier negotiation or cost-saving experience are assets.
