Position: IT Operations Manager

Full-time, Memphis, TN

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Salary Range: Starting at $75,000

based on experience

The IT Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination, security and continuous improvement of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis’ information technology operations. This position provides leadership in the development and implementation of IT processes, procedures, service standards and technology solutions that support organizational efficiency, system reliability, information security, and the technology needs of employees across the organization.

Role Focus

The IT Manager serves as the organization's day-to-day technology leader, balancing hands-on technical support with department management, systems administration, technology planning, vendor management, and continuous improvement. The position assesses organizational technology needs, recommends practical and cost-effective solutions, establishes appropriate controls and documentation, and works closely with organizational leadership and external technology partners to ensure that technology supports Habitat's mission and strategic priorities.

The IT Manager provides direct supervision and direction to IT staff, as applicable, and is responsible for establishing clear priorities, service expectations, escalation procedures, and accountability within the IT function.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the accountable owner and administrator of the organization’s application portfolio, including Salesforce, Egnyte, BytePro, GoFundMe Pro, VolunteerHub, Classy, and the ReStore point-of-sales system

  • Represent Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis (HFHGM)with professionalism and integrity while helping to advance our mission.

  • Oversees day-to-day IT operations and service delivery across HFHGM.

  • Establishes and maintains IT processes, procedures, service standards, documentation, and escalation protocols.

  • Oversees user support, systems administration, hardware and software management, network connectivity, telecommunications, user access, and technology assets.

  • Maintains appropriate cybersecurity, data protection, backup, access-control, and business-continuity practices.

  • Leads the evaluation, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of technology systems and services.

  • Supervises and develops IT staff, as applicable, and coordinates the work of external technology vendors and service providers.

  • Partners with organizational leaders to identify technology needs, prioritize projects, manage resources, and recommend solutions that support operational and strategic goals.

  • Provides hands-on technical support when necessary, particularly for escalated, complex, or organization-wide issues.

  • Establish and maintain appropriate cybersecurity practices, including user access controls, authentication, endpoint security, patching, backups, and security awareness.

  • Monitor and respond appropriately to technology security incidents and coordinate escalation with external IT/security providers when necessary.

  • Maintain appropriate controls for employee access to systems, applications, and organizational data.

  • Coordinate cybersecurity awareness and training for employees.

  • Support organizational compliance with applicable technology, privacy, and data-security requirements.

  • Manage relationships with IT vendors, managed service providers, software providers, telecommunications providers, and other technology partners.

  • Monitor vendor performance, service agreements, support issues, renewals, and technology-related expenses.

  • Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations regarding technology purchases, contracts, and services.

  • Serve as the internal point of coordination for outsourced IT services and escalated technical issues.

Technology Project Management

  • Lead or coordinate technology projects from needs assessment through implementation, including requirements gathering, vendor coordination, testing, deployment, training, and post-implementation review.

  • Develop and maintain an IT roadmap that identifies technology priorities, lifecycle needs, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions based on organizational needs, security, usability, scalability, and cost.

Skills and qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of G Suite, Microsoft 365, Windows, and Mac.

  • Must be able to lift and carry IT equipment weighing 50 pounds

Education and Work Experience

Required
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including systems administration, technical support, infrastructure, or related experience.

  • 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership, project leadership, supervision, or management.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or administering Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Experience with identity and access management, including Microsoft Entra ID or comparable platforms.

  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM/business application platform.

  • Experience with Azure, AWS, virtualization, or cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, DNS, VPN, firewalls, and wireless technologies.

  • Experience managing hardware, software, IT assets, user accounts, and technology vendors.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain IT procedures, documentation, and knowledge resources.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project management, communication, and customer-service skills.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

  • Experience with cybersecurity, endpoint protection, backup/recovery, and security awareness programs.

  • Experience supporting retail or point-of-sale environments.

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or comparable certification.

  • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Ability to occasionally lift and move IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday based on the needs of the business. Evening and weekend work is required as job duties demand.
