Fincantieri Marine Systems North America is hiring for a Staff Accountant at Fincantieri Marine Repair, located in Jacksonville, FL. This is a 1st-shift role, Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s accounting operations by contributing to accurate accounting management, reporting, and compliance activities across multiple business units. Working within a fast-paced industrial environment, this position partners with internal departments to support operational and accounting objectives, improve processes, and ensure the reliability of financial data. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt in a multi-system, deadline-oriented environment.

Domestic travel may be required.

  • Process payroll and perform general accounting functions, including preparation of journal entries (intercompany and cost allocations) and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting through periodic reconciliations and subledger support
  • Support corporate tax requests, annual audit schedules, and provide required documentation for external auditors
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Assist Finance with data analysis, reporting, special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc accounting support
  • Conduct research and collaborate with various departments to support accounting initiatives and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Must have ability to operate within two ERP systems (Sage, Epicor)
  • Must have ability to provide accurate processing and reporting across both ERP systems and business units
  • Must have strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills, particularly Excel
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO, OSHA, and company policies, and maintain a high level of safety awareness

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or project-based environments preferred
  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The position is primarily performed in a quiet, climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to moving equipment, elements, or risk of injury. When entering the shipyard, there may be exposure to moving equipment, elements, or risk of injury.
