Data Analyst – RWJBarnabas Health

Data Analyst Responsibilities:
- Gathers and facilitates the coordination of patient data in regard to clinical outcomes pertaining to the Cardiovascular Service Line
- Submits data to outside regulatory agencies and national databases
- May be directed to assist other hospitals with data collection at the direction of management
- Ensures accuracy and validity of all data elements abstracted into databases
- Assures data submission deadlines are met
- Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for improving quality of care and documentation affecting registry metrics
- Stays current with changes in data definitions and descriptions
- Oversees the data process for all external databases and reputational scores for CMS, HealthGrades, Leapfrog, STS and NCDR
- Queries data and runs reports to identify opportunities for improvement
- Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for improving quality of care and documentation affecting registry metrics
- Educates physicians, surgeons, PAs, APN s, Perfusionists, Registered Nurses, and Technicians re: documentation opportunities to assist with registry metrics and coding
- Provides support to facilities for performance improvement activities and special projects as needed,
- Assists with building and revising automated reports
- Works in collaboration with other data abstractors to ensure the integrity of the data
- Organizes workflow, function independently and manage own time and work assignments
- Demonstrates interpersonal competencies such as problem-solving, negotiating, and communication
- Maintains professional growth through the utilization of professional organizations, seminars, in-service programs and other self-directed learning activities,
- Demonstrates professionalism with physicians, co-workers and supervisors,
- Utilizes principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure and improve organizational and department functions
To be considered for this Data Analyst opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing, and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. An ASN or Nursing diploma required. If candidate possesses ASN or Nursing diploma, must agree to complete BSN within five years of hire date. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred. At least 2 years clinical experience in assigned specialty area or prior abstraction experience is required.
Preferred experience included utilizing the following systems: EPIC, HVA, 3M, Cardiopulse, Xcelera, and Vizient.
This position offers a 40 hour work week on day shift, Monday - Friday, flexible shift times, and some remote work.
