Operating Room Support Technician
The Operating Room Support Technician assists the Perioperative team in maintaining efficient workflow and supporting a safe, organized, and high-quality surgical environment. This role contributes to the smooth operation of the department by ensuring supplies, instruments, equipment, and other resources are properly prepared, available, and maintained.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Assisting the Perioperative team in maintaining efficient workflow and supporting daily operating room activities.
- Preparing and organizing surgical supplies, equipment, and other necessary resources to ensure the operating room is ready for procedures.
- Supporting inventory control by monitoring, organizing, and maintaining appropriate levels of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Assisting with the cleaning, preparation, and maintenance of operating room equipment and supplies between procedures.
- Working collaboratively with nurses, surgical technologists, surgeons, and other perioperative staff to promote coordinated patient care and efficient operating room workflow.
- Following established policies, procedures, infection prevention practices, and safety standards to maintain a high level of service and professionalism.
- Supporting continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives and contributing to a safe, efficient, and patient-centered perioperative environment.
- Demonstrating attention to detail, accountability, adaptability, and professionalism in a fast-paced surgical setting.
- Participating in continuing education, department training, and professional development to maintain and expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Successfully completing site personnel general orientation and department-specific orientation requirements.
- Practicing within the responsibilities and expectations of the Operating Room Support Technician role while maintaining compliance with organizational standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of inventory control techniques preferred.
- Certified Aide training program helpful but not mandatory.
- Proven work record demonstrating reliability, professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to quality service.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
- Current BLS / Health Care Provider certification.
- Successful completion of site personnel general orientation.
- Successful completion of department-specific orientation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain focused and adaptable in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, professionalism, and continuous quality improvement.
