Description

Grungo Law is seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented Pre-Litigation Paralegal/Case Manager to take ownership of a caseload of personal injury matters from post-intake through resolution or transfer to litigation. In this role, you will serve as the day-to-day manager of your cases, working closely with clients, providers, insurers, and supervising attorneys to move cases forward efficiently and maximize outcomes for our clients.

This is a high-responsibility role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes genuine ownership of their work, and understands that every detail matters in a personal injury case. Prior experience in plaintiff personal injury is essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of pre-litigation personal injury matters from post-intake through demand, negotiation, and resolution or transfer to litigation.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the pre-litigation process, maintaining consistent, proactive, and professional communication.

• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of each client's injuries, treatment, and case status in order to guide cases strategically toward resolution.

• Monitor client treatment progress and follow up regularly to ensure clients are receiving appropriate care and that records are being obtained in a timely manner.

• Review and analyze the liability aspects of personal injury claims, identifying potential issues, inconsistencies, and areas requiring further investigation.

• Request, obtain, and review medical records, bills, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

• Review and analyze medical bills, billing records, PIP matters, and health insurance liens related to personal injury claims, identifying outstanding balances and potential issues that may affect settlement.

• Prepare and submit demand packages to insurance carriers under attorney supervision, including review of medical records, calculation of damages, and drafting of demand letters.

• Manage insurance communications, including coverage verification, adjuster correspondence, and negotiation support as directed by supervising attorneys.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case notes, task lists, and documentation in the case management system in accordance with firm protocols.

• Collaborate with legal assistants, billings specialists, and attorneys to ensure all case components are advancing on schedule.

• Identify issues or case developments that require attorney escalation and communicate them promptly and clearly.

• Work independently to manage a high-volume caseload while consistently meeting firm deadlines and quality standards.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented work environment.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience as a paralegal, case manager, or legal assistant in a plaintiff personal injury firm is required.

• NJ PIP experience is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Solid understanding of the personal injury pre-litigation process, including medical record review, damages evaluation, and demand preparation.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional client-facing and insurer communication.

• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to identify issues and escalate appropriately.

• Receptive to attorney direction, training, and feedback.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn the case management system and other firm-specific software.

• Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.

Compensation

$23 - $25 hourly. Benefits and 401(k) available upon eligibility.
