Job Description

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is the state’s largest hunger relief organization and one of the leading food banks in the Feeding America Network. In additional to vital hunger relief programs in our 21-county service area, we also operate Fresh Connect Central, a regional produce cooperative for Feeding America, serve as a contract reclamation site for Kroger Central Division, and are a staging site for FEMA disaster response.

Position Purpose of Supply Chain Support Coordinator: The Supply Chain Support Coordinator provides operational, inventory, and customer service support to the Supply Chain Team. This position supports order processing, inventory management, agency distributions, food receipt tracking, waste reduction efforts, and food safety compliance. This role provides cross-functional support to multiple departments, helping ensure efficient operations, effective communication, and the successful distribution of food resources throughout the organization. All responsibilities and duties will further Gleaners’ mission to be a leader in the fight against hunger.

Essential Functions of Supply Chain Support Coordinator:

• Assist with processing incoming orders and creating new orders accurately and promptly each day while adhering to set deadlines.

• Monitor warehouse inventory levels on all perishable commodities and ensure products are utilized before product expirations by working with necessary departments.

• Coordinate gleaning and food recovery initiatives to maximize the utilization of donated and purchased products, reduce food waste, and facilitate timely distribution to partners and neighbors.

• Assist with customer service support to the Network Relations Department by working with the local Network Service Managers on agency distribution, orders and special requests.

• Assist Supply Chain Coordinator with product receipting, tracking, scheduling and reporting of food acquisitions.

• Active participation in staff and departmental meetings as requested.

• Provide backup support to Supply Chain and Gleaners teams as needed.

• Adjust tasks and assignments as needed to meet the changing needs of the team.

• Ensure compliance and adherence to all food safety guidelines according to GFB, Feeding America, AIB, USDA, ISDH and any other applicable processes or regulations for safe and sanitary production and storage of all products.

• All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience of Supply Chain Support Coordinator :

• High school diploma or equivalent experience; secondary education or relevant certification a plus
• Prior experience in customer service, logistics, supply chain, warehousing and data management is desired

Other Relevant Skills and Abilities of the Supply Chain Support Coordinator :

• General knowledge of warehouse processes and warehouse systems, intermediate PC skills including Microsoft Office applications, WMS and ERP.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while adapting to changing priorities

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to read, write and to understand instructions

• Problem solving – identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner; developing alternative solutions; working well in group problem solving situations

• Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with all staff members, agencies, volunteers, and donors

• Ability to perform basic math functions, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

• Ability to count accurately and maintain accurate records

• Understands warehouse inventory

• Be accountable and meet deadlines on a consistent basis

• Maintain a positive attitude
