Lead - Lathe / Mill turn in Morgan Hill, California at Kalman Manufacturing Inc

• Assumes responsibility for setting up parts from written and verbal instructions
• Reviews traveler, set-up instructions, drawings, inspection forms and any other relevant documentation for each job.
• Ensures the assigned machine tool is sufficiently clean and working properly, cutting tools and fixturing are available and that raw material is available prior to beginning the set-up.
• Setup includes loading of fixtures, jaws, tools etc. Inputting of programs, work and tooling offsets as per set up instructions.
• Responsible for Set-Up and submitting a First Piece to QA for approval and completing Master Inspection Report.
• Upon completion of passing inspection submits to QA for 1st article approval.
• Ensures all necessary items, including inspection and deburring tools are available for operator to run the job out.
• Trains the operator in all aspects of the process including loading, inspection and deburring.
• Gives operator approval for production to begin upon receipt of the approved first article from QA.
• Follows up with operator to ensure optimum efficiency and quality of the job.

Production Lead

• Ensures Cycle Times and Setup Times are achieved by operator and setup personnel.
• Assists Production Manager with the responsibility for scheduling personnel, new part processes, optimizing processes for recurring jobs and contributing technical support to set-up personnel and operators.
• Assists Production Manager with performance reviews for all operators and setup personnel.
• Reports any ongoing employee issues to Production Manager.
• Performs other Duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
• Ensures compliance with ISO-9001 and all governmental regulations.

General Requirements:

The Production Lead Lathe Setup must be highly skilled in the set up and programming and development of CNC Machining processes. They must have knowledge and experience in all aspects of the process. Supervision experience would be helpful.

Skills Required:

• Should be High School Graduate or GED equivalent. Ideal candidate would have BS in mechanical engineering or similar field.
• Must have extensive experience setting up and operating CNC Machine Tools
• Must have in depth knowledge in reading of prints
• Must be well trained and experienced with the software to be utilized in the cell.
• Must have knowledge of workholding and tooling methodology and hardware.
• Must be experienced in the manufacturing of fixturing.
• Must have knowledge and experience in cutting tool selection.
• Some experience Programming Lathes
• CNC Lathe set up and trouble shooting.
• Should have experience in the creation of Process Validation (MIR).
• Proficient in Microsoft office.
• Proficient in computer file management practices.
• Must have high attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good teamwork is essential.
• Must have excellent time management skills.
• Should have experience supervising a group of set-up personnel and operators.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have good manual dexterity and be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Knowledge and experience working in an ISO 9001 and 13485 environment is a plus.
