This is a part-time onsite position based in Emeryville, CA, working approximately 16–24 hours per week. For candidates located in or within commuting distance of Emeryville, there may be an opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement. Please note that this position is not eligible for company-sponsored benefits.

Senior Product Development Scientist
Position Summary
The Junior Baking Product Developer supports the creation and improvement of baking products, including frostings, baking mixes, cookie doughs, and related items. This role conducts product development, renovations, ingredient research, recipe testing, and quality assurance, collaborating closely with the Baking R&D Lead and team. The Developer also prepares sales samples and ensures compliance with food safety regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Execute product development tasks, including developing new recipes, improving existing products, and testing formulations.
· Conduct ingredient research and evaluate functionality to support product quality and cost optimization.
· Prepare sales samples and assist with product trials as directed.
· Follow established procedures for sensory evaluation, quality control, and documentation.
· Collaborate with the R&D team to support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
· 2–5 years of experience in product development or recipe formulation
· Strong understanding of food science and ingredient functionality
· Proficiency in sensory evaluation and quality control practices
· Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
· Bachelor’s degree in food science, culinary arts, or equivalent experience
· Ability to follow briefs and standard operating procedures while executing formulations
· Proficiency in Google Workspace, Dropbox and other lab documentation tools
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
· Extended periods of standing required
· Ability to taste and evaluate a variety of products.
· Exposure to hot water, cleaning chemicals, airborne particles, and machinery.
· Local, on-site presence required in San Francisco or Emeryville, CA, travel minimal
