Role Title : Manager, Batch and Middleware - APAC/EMEA/Americas
Role Purpose :
The Manager, Batch and Middleware is responsible for leading
and managing the organization's batch processing and
middleware infrastructure across global operations. This role
ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of enterprise
batch scheduling systems (Control-M, Zena), application
integration platforms, and middleware technologies that support
critical business applications including SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori,
SAP GRC, PeopleSoft, and other enterprise systems.
The position requires strong technical expertise combined with
leadership capabilities to manage a team of specialists whilst
maintaining strategic alignment with enterprise architecture and
business objectives. Deep understanding of ERP batch
processing, SAP middleware integration, and enterprise
scheduling is essential.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Planning:
• Lead modernisation initiatives to migrate legacy batch processes to contemporary
platforms and cloud-based solutions
• Support SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives, ensuring batch and middleware
infrastructure readiness
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments in middleware and integration technologies
• Establish and maintain architectural standards and best practices for batch and middleware environments, particularly for SAP and PeopleSoft landscapes
• Collaborate with enterprise architects to ensure alignment with overall technology direction
• Drive integration strategy for SAP Fiori applications and backend systems
Operational Management:
• Oversee daily operations of enterprise batch scheduling systems including
Control-M and Zena across global regions
• Manage middleware platforms including application servers, message queuing systems, enterprise service buses, and API gateways
• Ensure reliable execution of critical SAP batch jobs (BASIS, ABAP batch processing, background jobs) and PeopleSoft batch processes
• Oversee SAP GRC access control batch processes and compliance-related
automated workflows
• Monitor and optimise SAP Fiori gateway services and OData integration
performance
• Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of batch and middleware
services across 24/7 global operations
• Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and operational metrics, implementing improvements as required
• Coordinate batch processing windows and manage dependencies across SAP,
PeopleSoft, and integrated applications
• Lead incident management and problem resolution for batch and
middleware-related issues
• Manage Control-M and Zena job scheduling, dependencies, and automation
frameworks
• Manage licensing costs for Control-M, Zena, and related middleware technologies
Team Leadership and Development:
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of batch and middleware
specialists with expertise in SAP and PeopleSoft environments
• Provide technical guidance and escalation support to team members
• Manage workload distribution and resource allocation across the team
• Conduct performance management, including objective setting, reviews, and career development planning
Governance and Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements, and audit
standards, particularly for SAP GRC requirements
• .Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and
procedures for Control-M, Zena, and middleware components
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of batch processes and middleware components
• Manage change control processes for batch and middleware environments across SAP and PeopleSoft landscapes
• Support internal and external audits related to automated processing and access controls
Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
• Collaborate with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to negotiate contracts and service agreements.
• Collaborate with business partners to establish operational requirements, new
initiatives and opportunities for improvement.
• Align with PMO and Engineering to ensure all projects are approved, tracked and appropriately resourced and funded.
• Maintain strong relationships with key technology partners.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of IT infrastructure experience with 5+ years in batch processing and middleware technologies
• 3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams
• Hands-on experience with Control-M and Zena batch scheduling systems
• Demonstrated experience with SAP environments:
• SAP S/4HANA architecture and batch processing
• SAP S/4HANA Cloud
• SAP BRIM
• SAP Fiori and Gateway integration
• SAP GRC access controls and compliance workflows
• SAP Basis and background job management
• Working knowledge of PeopleSoft technical architecture (Application Server, Process Scheduler, Integration Broker)
• Experience with middleware technologies (application servers, message queuing, ESB platforms, API management)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Certifications:
• Relevant certifications in IT and cloud computing
• Relevant product certifications for SAP, Peoplesoft and Control-M
