SRS has an immediate opening for a Staff Environmental Chemist in our Atlanta, GA office or potentially as a remote position depending on experience. This position has tremendous opportunity for growth in the environmental restoration and remediation industry. The position will report to and receive mentoring from senior and mid-level staff, and perform various tasks including but not limited to:
Responsibilities:
- Prepare quality assurance project plans, reports, and other technical documents such as data quality assessment reports.
- Perform data validation of organic and inorganic analytical methods for multiple disciplines and projects including comparison of data to DQOs and provide results tables.
- Plan field sampling events according to project requirements and sampling plans; manage test/bottle orders with subcontracted laboratories; and coordinate sampling events with the field team.
- Monitor subcontractor performance against plans and resolve most variances from laboratory to specifications.
- Utilize multi-functional web-based data management tool to efficiently and effectively track, manage, validate, assess, and provide data to end users.
- Support data requests and provide chemistry support to project teams for multiple, simultaneous projects.
Preferred Skills and Aptitudes:
- OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER
- Ability to work well both independently and in a project team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to self-manage a task schedule and budget.
- Knowledge of the United States Air Force, USACE and other DoD organizations.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental issues as they relate to DoD compliance programs.
- Ability to identify and resolve broad range of problems associated with the analysis and reporting of chemical results.
- Knowledge of laboratory analytical methods and field sampling methods/equipment for organic, inorganic, PFAS, and munitions-related chemicals. Experience with field sample collection. Familiar with U.S. EPA SW-846 methods, the UFP-QAPP, and regulatory programs including RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, and CAA, as well as laboratory certification programs. Experience with FUDSChem, NIRIS, and/or ERPIMs desirable.
- Experience with Access or SQL.
Compensation: 70,000-85,000/ Annually + Benefits
