Job Description
The Materials Planner is an integral part of the Supply Chain function and will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the supply of raw materials so that company production and operational needs are met. Materials Planners are tasked to drive maximum utilization of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for all Material Requirements Planning (MRP) functions and inventory control. The role will collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, MSAT, and Project Management to ensure that all materials requirements are met and on-schedule.
- Creates and manages demand signals in Abzena’s MRP system, IFS.
- Analyzes the matching of supply and demand, based on the MRP system, to identify shortages and surpluses, and drive course corrections.
- Owns and maintains all MRP parameters in ERP and other relevant systems.
- Meets regularly with internal stakeholders to ensure site functions meet the required production need-by-dates for authorization, order placement, delivery, receipt, test, and release of raw materials.
- Develops and maintains PowerBI, Excel, and PowerPoint reports on materials availability and performance factoring in production schedule, inventory management, and procurement activities. Metrics and reports will be overall and specific to each client program and schedule milestone.
- Partners with Materials Management to develop and implement inventory and planning strategies (e.g., reorder points, Kanban programs, safety stock levels, ABC categorization, etc.).
- Participates in the decision-making process regarding schedule changes by communicating current and projected availability of materials.
- Monitors ERP Reservation functionality for on-hand inventory.
- Builds and shares forecasts with suppliers. Partners with Procurement and suppliers to define delivery schedules (dates and quantities) based on forecasts.
- Quickly anticipates and communicate any material shortages to relevant stakeholders. Leads implementation of mitigation strategies (e.g., alternates, escalation, site transfer, etc.)
- Collaborates with Sourcing team on competitive market events (RFx).
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
- Operates to the highest ethical and moral standards.
- Complies with Abzena's policies and procedures.
- Adheres to quality standards set by regulations and Abzena policies, procedures and mission.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff using both written and oral communication.
- Participates effectively as a team player in all aspects of Abzena's business.
- Trains on new technologies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management. Equivalent experience in production planning will also be considered.
- 5 years minimum experience.
- Proficiency with leading ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, JDE, Infor, IFS), IFS preferred.
- APICS (CSCP) / ISM (CPSM) certification preferred.
- Must be an Advanced user of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to learn Microsoft PowerBI to perform analytics and develop interactive dashboards.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and finish projects and tasks within deadlines.
