The IT Infrastructure Operations Engineer III will serve as a senior technical expert responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting complex enterprise infrastructure environments. The role requires hands-on technical leadership, proactive problem-solving, and collaboration across teams to ensure reliable and secure operations.
- Act as a subject matter expert for enterprise server infrastructure, providing advanced troubleshooting for hardware components, configurations, and complex failures.
- Lead advanced network troubleshooting and incident resolution across enterprise networking environments, including routing and switching technologies.
- Develop and maintain standardized processes for firmware, BIOS, driver, and software updates across server and network environments.
- Support hardware lifecycle management initiatives, including refresh projects, end-of-life migrations, and infrastructure transitions.
- Partner with reliability and engineering teams to create monitoring dashboards, proactive alerting systems, and operational visibility improvements.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure configuration repositories using version control practices to support auditing and rapid recovery.
- Lead root cause analysis activities and blameless post-incident reviews to improve system reliability and prevent recurring issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, operational runbooks, and service architecture references.
- Perform capacity planning, performance analysis, and optimization recommendations to support infrastructure growth.
- Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and operational best practices.
- Manage hardware vendor relationships, support cases, warranty processes, and service-level commitments.
- Provide support for critical incidents and participate in 24x7 operational coverage when required.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience managing enterprise infrastructure environments, strong technical troubleshooting abilities, and the ability to lead operational improvements. This role requires expertise across servers, networking, automation, and infrastructure management practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure operations and support.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise server platforms, including hardware diagnostics, firmware management, remote management tools, and lifecycle practices.
- Strong expertise in Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, IOS/NX-OS administration, and complex troubleshooting.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, scripting, and version control systems.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code principles and automation tools.
- Experience mentoring engineers, improving processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage complex incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative solutions.
- Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, system reliability, and operational best practices.
- Experience with tools such as Dell iDRAC, Lifecycle Controller, OpenManage, RAID/PERC utilities, PXE boot systems, and server deployment processes.
- Experience with Cisco CLI, VLAN/QoS configuration, network monitoring, and connectivity troubleshooting tools.
- Proficiency with automation and operations tools such as Ansible, Python, CMDB platforms, and documentation systems.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, Dell certifications, ITIL, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and leadership.
