We are seeking a motivated and faith-filled Summer Intern to join our team and gain meaningful experience within the Diocese of Arlington. This internship offers the opportunity to support the mission of our organization, grow professionally and spiritually, and contribute to the projects that serve our broader community.
Position Summary
The Campus Ministry Intern serves as the student president of the Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) and assists with the planning, coordination, and implementation of events and programs throughout the academic year. The intern supports student engagement activities, coordinates student leaders and volunteers, and serves as a liaison between the ministry and the university community.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Model Christian values and leadership in all interactions and activities.
- Assist in coordinating and supporting the student leadership team.
- Serve as a liaison among CCM staff, students, and university representatives.
- Coordinate student volunteer sign-ups and service opportunities throughout the academic year.
- Assist with general ministry functions and administrative tasks, including:
- Applying for and managing funding through the Student Funding Board.
- Scheduling and participating in bi-weekly tabling sessions.
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of retreats, conferences, and trips.
- Supporting special meetings, programs, and events, including logistical coordination and event preparation.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, summer reading group meetings, leadership workshops, retreats, and Welcome Week activities.
- Transport students to events using University vehicle.
- Perform other CCM-related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities and Authority
Supervision Received
- Reports directly to the CCM Chaplain.
- Works under close supervision and guidance.
- Does not exercise independent judgment regarding matters of organizational significance and has no supervisory authority over employees.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
- Ability to travel between campus locations and event sites as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, office equipment, and other ministry-related tools.
- Requires visual acuity to read documents and use a computer screen.
- Frequently required to sit, speak, hear, and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
- Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
- Work is performed in a typical office environment and at various campus locations. The work environment is generally quiet and wheelchair accessible.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled as a student at the university and pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiar with online communication and marketing tools; experience with Adobe products is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with appropriate supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills required.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church and Catholic Campus Ministry.
