Job Description

Contract Phlebotomist

Contract Phlebotomist (1099 Independent Contractor) Opportunity!

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Contract Phlebotomist to conduct onsite blood draws for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality specimen collection services while delivering exceptional care in a professional and courteous manner. This position offers flexible scheduling and is ideal for experienced phlebotomists looking for contract opportunities.

Early morning availability preferred. 10-20hrs/ week. $25-$45/ hr.

Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.

Responsibilities


  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections safely and accurately.

  • Verify patient identity and accurately label specimens.

  • Prepare, package, and transport specimens according to established protocols.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.

  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and infection control guidelines.

  • Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stocked.

  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining patient comfort and confidentiality.

  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, laboratory personnel, and patients.

  • Report any specimen collection issues or patient concerns promptly.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.

  • National phlebotomy certification preferred (NHA, ASCP, AMT, NCCT, or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.

  • Current CPR certification preferred.

  • Excellent venipuncture skills with patients of all ages.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to assigned locations, if applicable.
