Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and dependable team member to join our leadership team as an Assistant Production Supervisor. This position will support the Production Supervisor with daily production activities while helping ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time production goals are met.

The Assistant Production Supervisor will help coordinate employees, monitor production, address issues, support training, and maintain a safe and productive work environment. This position requires strong communication, leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support the Production Supervisor with daily production activities and schedules.
  • Help assign employees and daily work priorities based on production needs and employee skills.
  • Monitor production throughout the shift and communicate delays, staffing concerns, material shortages, or equipment issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Help ensure production reports and required information are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with maintaining production flow and meeting daily goals.

Quality Management

  • Monitor work to ensure employees are following work instructions and quality standards.
  • Identify and report defects, rework, scrap, and other quality concerns.
  • Assist with identifying the causes of recurring quality issues.
  • Help contain and communicate quality issues to the Production Supervisor and Quality Department.
  • Promote quality at the source and encourage employees to identify and prevent defects.

Team Leadership & Employee Development

  • Lead and support employees while setting a positive example.
  • Communicate production goals, quality expectations, safety requirements, and work priorities.
  • Coach employees on proper processes and work expectations.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new employees.
  • Support cross-training to improve employee skills and department coverage.
  • Provide feedback to the Production Supervisor regarding employee performance, attendance, training needs, and workplace concerns.
  • Help address employee concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Support the Production Supervisor with coaching and corrective action as directed.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety policies, PPE requirements, and established procedures.
  • Address unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately and report them to the Production Supervisor.
  • Assist with safety observations, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained before performing assigned tasks or operating equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, workflow, and efficiency.
  • Encourage employees to share ideas for improving processes.
  • Assist with problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications
  • Manufacturing boating experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership, lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach and support employees.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and support the Production Supervisor.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Must demonstrate good attendance, reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and quality.
