Dow Jones Newswires seeks a dynamic and experienced journalist to cover markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
This Singapore-based role positions you on the front lines of our real-time operations, putting some of the biggest markets news of the day-from multibillion-dollar swings in equities to coordinated currency intervention-in your hands. An important focus will be cryptocurrencies and growing coverage as it experiences significant investment flows in Asia. This is an opportunity to work with a team of smart and versatile reporters, helping to shepherd their content. A major part of the role is to identify the top stories in markets that can lead all platforms.
The job involves sending rapid-fire headlines and then going behind the news to explain what is driving shifts in asset prices. The successful candidate will be able to break news, quickly contextualize events, distill complex regulation, and reach into trading rooms to understand the forces moving markets.
Accuracy, speed, excellent news judgment and a close eye for detail are essential. You should have broad knowledge of market news and a clear understanding of what investors and traders need and expect from a real-time news service.

- Exercise exceptional news judgment to identify news of importance to professionals, with ability to efficiently prioritize and summarize into smart briefs and subsequent analysis of what the news means for investors, extracting from a wealth of available content.
- Collaborate with reporters and editors from other groups, including Dow Jones Newswires, WSJ and other colleagues and those in other bureaus and regions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in numeracy, draws on deep financial knowledge, and be confident analyzing the data behind a story in real time.
- Uphold Dow Jones standards and ethics.

You have:
- A minimum of five years' newsroom experience.
- A well-honed sense of urgency along with a capacity to remain calm under pressure.
