This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, IT Applications based in the United States.

This role leads the management and evolution of an enterprise application portfolio supporting both business operations and regulated activities.
You will oversee critical GxP and clinical systems alongside core enterprise platforms, ensuring reliability, compliance, and strong user experiences.
Working closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, and HR teams, you will translate business needs into effective technology solutions.
The position combines hands-on systems leadership with application governance, vendor management, team development, and project delivery.
You will play a key role in implementations, upgrades, integrations, validation, and continuous improvement across the application landscape.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful technology impact within a fast-moving, highly collaborative, and regulated biotechnology environment.

Accountabilities:

As Senior Manager, IT Applications, you will own the performance, governance, and lifecycle of enterprise applications while serving as a trusted technology partner to business and regulated functions.

  • Manage and maintain the enterprise application portfolio, including validated GxP and clinical platforms such as Veeva Vault QualityDocs, VaultTraining, QMS, RIM, eTMF, and CDMS, as well as ITSM and Microsoft 365/collaboration tools.
  • Serve as the primary owner for application uptime, performance, configuration, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Lead application implementations, upgrades, integrations, and decommissions, coordinating computer system validation activities with Quality when required.
  • Maintain application governance covering change control, access management, data integrity, system documentation, SOPs, validation protocols, and configuration records.
  • Partner with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, and HR teams to gather requirements, prioritize the application roadmap, and translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Act as a bridge between IT and business stakeholders, communicating system changes clearly and maintaining strong relationships throughout implementations and ongoing operations.
  • Collaborate with broader IT teams to align shared platforms, technology standards, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Manage and mentor application analysts and administrators, establish priorities, and support team development.
  • Oversee vendor relationships throughout implementation and maintenance activities, ensuring service, performance, and compliance commitments are met.
  • Monitor application performance and incident trends, lead root-cause analysis, and drive improvements to reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, eliminate redundant tools, and maximize the value of the application portfolio.
  • Lead or support IT application projects, including planning, tracking, coordination, and delivery of key initiatives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines strong enterprise application expertise with experience in regulated life sciences environments, people leadership, and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in IT applications, including at least 2 years in a management or team-lead capacity.
  • Hands-on experience administering GxP and validated systems, such as Veeva Vault or Box, within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated life sciences environment.
  • Experience managing enterprise IT applications, including ITSM and Microsoft 365 or comparable collaboration platforms.
  • Working knowledge of GxP requirements, 21 CFR Part 11, and computer system validation practices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendors, budgets, application initiatives, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience managing AI or machine learning initiatives, including model validation and responsible AI and data governance principles.
  • Proficiency using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini to support project work and improve productivity.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across Clinical, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and HR.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and system changes clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving, and regulated environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a high level of attention to data integrity, documentation, troubleshooting, and operational detail.
  • An efficiency-oriented mindset focused on simplifying processes, optimizing systems, and delivering greater value with lean resources.

Benefits:

  • Remote position within the United States.
  • Opportunity to lead a broad enterprise application portfolio within a clinical-stage biotechnology environment.
  • High-impact role spanning regulated GxP systems and core enterprise IT applications.
  • Close collaboration with Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Finance, HR, and IT stakeholders.
  • Leadership responsibility for application professionals and strategic technology vendors.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, responsible AI, and data governance initiatives.
  • Opportunity to drive application modernization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Equal employment opportunity and a commitment to a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.
