Position SummaryCentury Fasteners Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This hybrid role owns accurate and timely payroll processing while also supporting general ledger accounting, monthly close, reconciliations, reporting, and audits. The ideal candidate combines hands-on, multi-state payroll experience with a strong accounting foundation and a continuous improvement mindset.
What You Will Do- Process regular, supplemental, bonus, commission, and special payrolls using ADP Workforce Now.
- Review time and attendance data, payroll registers, deductions, exceptions, and funding for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare payroll journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile payroll liabilities, payroll taxes, employee benefits, garnishments, retirement plan contributions, and other assigned accounts.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including assigned general ledger accounts and variance analysis.
- Assist with external financial statement, 401(k), workers’ compensation, and other compliance audits.
- Coordinate payroll-related 401(k) activity under a participant self-service model, focusing on deductions, contribution reconciliation, provider coordination, and audit support.
- Prepare headcount, overtime, commission, payroll, and labor-cost reporting for management.
- Research discrepancies, resolve payroll and accounting issues, and help strengthen procedures and internal controls.
- Provide backup and project support across Accounting while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered.
- Three or more years of payroll processing, payroll accounting, or general accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with multi-state payroll, journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and time and attendance systems strongly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and summarize financial data.
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach with employees, Accounting, Human Resources, service providers, and auditors.
