Job Description

Purpose of the Position: Uses Quality Engineering disciplines and techniques to ensure AIAG Guidelines for APQP and PPAP submissions are followed between Electricfil, its suppliers and its customers. This includes ensuring any requirements are correctly completed and documented as per AIAG/Customer specifications at each phase, prior to going to the subsequent phase, up to PPAP approval by Customer. This includes following any Electricfil Group requirements for product development as applicable to EFC. Responsibility will include developing any required quality documentation with applicable linkages, including NC boards & Visual Aids. This will also cover ensuring GRRs and CPKs are completed which meet requirements and are so documented.

Job Duties

  • Development of required documentation to support new product launches.
  • Serves as “Gatekeeper” to ensure all steps are completed and documented in the appropriate order.
  • Support the DFMEA and PFMEA and ensure effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Participate in the selection of special characteristics.
  • Set quality objectives and associated training related to customer expectations for new product introduction.
  • Investigation of opportunities for improvement and / or reduction of costs (e.g. Trouble Shooting and Root Cause Analysis).
  • Participating in product design and development
  • Conducting and documenting training for site personnel as required to support new product introductions.
  • Interfaces closely with Engineering to ensure flawless Product Launches (Reviews New Product Introduction process for completeness & adequacy to AIAG, Electricfil & Customer standards).
  • Uses classic Quality skills (e.g. SPC, GRRs, and Capability Studies).
  • Evaluates techniques and instructions in site documentation, and implements changes as needed.
  • Perform audits at our suppliers and internally during the development phase.
  • Works to improve IMTE hardware and software; as well as fixtures used at site to support new introductions

Authority:

  • Authority to make decisions within their scope of responsibilities with regard to Job Duties / Core Requirements.
  • All employees have a quality and safety responsibility; therefore, having the authority to stop work processes to correct quality and/or safety problems, or quarantine items in the appropriate designated area until the issues are resolved

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Individual is responsible for meeting KPI targets for new product introduction.
  • Individual is responsible for customer, internal, and third-party audit findings.
  • Individual is accountable for supporting activities related to customer PPAP submissions
  • Individual is responsible for assisting with testing as needed.
  • Individual is accountable to ensure that all team members are properly trained and competent in their respective roles for new product introduction.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with all applicable plant, human resources, safety and quality procedures.
  • Individual knows and follow the requirements of the system for the management of quality.
  • Individual is responsible for informing the Plant Operations and General Manager of all issues affecting the quality of the products or of the processes as well as of all potential issue that may create a safety or environmental hazard.
  • Each operator is responsible for making sure that the quality of the product meets the expected level.
  • Individual will participate in audits and follow up on corrective actions.
  • To strictly adhere to Company Safety and other policies as documented in Electricfil Handbook.
  • Adhere to and implement everything in his/her power to achieve the Quality, Safety, and Environmental objectives and reduce the environmental impacts related to the activity of Electricfil Corporation.

Reporting:

  • Methodically capable of analyzing quality issues and providing a concise written summary to management.

Internal and/or external contacts:

  • (Internally) Individual will interface with management, direct reports and all levels of personnel within the organization.
  • (Internally) Individual will work closely with cross functional teams within the EFC, Alabama site as well as with the Beynost, France broader global quality team and supporting team members.
  • (Externally) Individual will interface with customer and supplier representatives. This will include participation in customer audits and visits as requested.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 Year Degree) in engineering (Quality, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or related technical field).
  • Industry knowledge and experience, including a background in electronic manufacturing and/or plastic injection molding (minimum 4 years preferred)
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical skills with statistical background
  • Strong communication skills
  • Process/data driven, detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Understanding of APQP, FMEA, and PPAP requirements
  • Understanding of IATF 16949:2016 requirements
  • ASQ CQE preferred. ASQ CQT & CQA are considered advantageous.

Special knowledge (languages, IT, etc.):

  • Communication/negotiation/meeting facilitation.
  • Fluent in business English, IT literate.

Supplemental Requirements for Advancement:

  • Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, and/or Lean Six Sigma
  • A demonstrated track record of performance in reaching objectives.
  • Excellent knowledge of Quality & Environmental Standards (IATF 16949:2016).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage others in meeting objectives and assist them in growing professionally.
  • Ability to prevent and/or protect EFC from customer situations which could adversely affect the organization.

Functional capacity requirements:

Note: In terms of an 8-hour workday, “Occasionally” equals 1% to 33%; “Frequently” equals 34% to 66%, and “Continuously” equals 67% to 100% of the time.

In an 8-hour workday the jobholder should be able to:
