Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Expert based in Brazil.
This is an opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to contribute directly to the development of high-quality training and evaluation data for cutting-edge AI models. You will design rigorous, original engineering problems that challenge advanced systems to demonstrate genuine technical reasoning. Your work will span areas such as mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, and mechanical systems. Each problem will need to be deterministic, technically precise, and supported by a complete, independently verifiable solution. You will combine engineering expertise, quantitative reasoning, and computational tools to validate complex problems and their expected answers. The role is highly focused and flexible, offering remote work on a part-time basis with an immediate start. It is particularly well suited to someone who enjoys challenging technical problems and wants to help shape the future of AI through expert-level engineering knowledge.
- Design advanced and original mechanical engineering problems for AI training and evaluation.
- Develop rigorous, deterministic problems that have exactly one verifiable correct answer.
- Create complete, accurate, and independently verified solutions for each problem.
- Develop challenges that assess genuine engineering analysis, multi-step reasoning, and problem-solving rather than simple memorization.
- Work across mechanical engineering domains including mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, and mechanical systems.
- Apply engineering judgment to create problems that reflect realistic mechanical engineering scenarios and workflows.
- Use computational and engineering tools such as Python, MATLAB, CAD/CAE platforms, or specialized simulation software where appropriate to validate calculations and solutions.
- Check all assumptions, calculations, methodologies, and final answers to ensure technical accuracy and reproducibility.
- Clearly document solution methodologies and reasoning in well-structured technical English.
- Produce consistent, high-quality outputs suitable for use in AI training and evaluation pipelines.
- Review problems and solutions critically to identify ambiguities, errors, or multiple possible interpretations before submission.
- Maintain a high level of precision and attention to detail across all technical content.
- Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Strong research or industry experience involving mechanical systems, engineering analysis, simulation, mathematical modeling, or related technical work.
- Strong quantitative reasoning, analytical thinking, and advanced problem-solving capabilities.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to complex, multi-step scenarios.
- Familiarity with numerical methods, computational engineering, and quantitative modeling.
- Ability to design original and genuinely challenging engineering problems that reflect real-world mechanical engineering workflows.
- Strong ability to develop deterministic problems with a single objectively verifiable solution.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy.
- Strong technical writing skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex engineering reasoning clearly and precisely.
- Experience using engineering or computational tools such as Python, MATLAB, ANSYS, Abaqus, SolidWorks, COMSOL, or comparable platforms is advantageous.
- Background in finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, optimization, simulation, or other computational engineering disciplines is a plus.
- Experience developing technical assessments, engineering educational content, or evaluation frameworks is beneficial.
- Experience evaluating AI reasoning, creating training data, or working with advanced AI systems is an additional advantage.
- Ability to work independently and consistently deliver high-quality technical content within defined deadlines.
- Remote working opportunity with location flexibility.
- Part-time commitment of approximately 20 hours per week.
- Competitive compensation of up to $40 USD per hour.
- Initial 2-month project duration, with potential for extension.
- Immediate start availability.
- Opportunity to contribute directly to the training and evaluation of advanced AI models.
- Work on intellectually challenging problems that draw on advanced mechanical engineering expertise.
- Exposure to emerging AI applications in technical and engineering domains.
- Flexible contract-based working environment suited to experienced engineering professionals.
- Opportunity to apply research, modeling, simulation, and engineering analysis skills in a new AI-focused context.
- Potential to contribute expert knowledge that helps improve AI reasoning and performance in mechanical engineering.
