Job Description

Network Security Software Engineer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Network Security Software Engineer in the United States.

This role sits at the core of a newly established network security function designed to protect complex, cloud-native financial systems handling sensitive data at scale. You will be responsible for redefining how network security is built in a modern infrastructure-as-code environment, shifting from traditional perimeter controls to identity-aware, fully automated, and continuously observable security systems. Acting as a senior technical authority, you will design and implement advanced security pipelines, real-time telemetry systems, and policy-driven enforcement mechanisms across cloud and hybrid environments. The role emphasizes automation, engineering ownership, and the use of agentic AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate delivery and improve security outcomes. You will work across security, SRE, and platform teams to embed security into CI/CD and operational processes. This is a high-impact position for a hands-on engineer who thrives in building foundational systems from the ground up and shaping what modern network security should look like.

Accountabilities:
  • Design and build fully automated network security change management pipelines that ensure speed, auditability, and reduced manual intervention.
  • Develop real-time network telemetry, monitoring, and alerting systems integrating threat intelligence, cloud infrastructure data, and asset inventories.
  • Engineer production-grade security tooling such as firewall lifecycle automation, configuration compliance validation, drift detection, and policy enforcement systems.
  • Tune and manage network security controls including IDS/IPS, WAF, DNS security, and firewall rules to improve detection fidelity and operational resilience.
  • Build and maintain APIs and integrations across security platforms such as Cloudflare, Zscaler, and cloud-native services with strong observability and reliability.
  • Support compliance and audit activities through evidence collection, documentation, and maintenance of accurate network topology and data flow mappings.
  • Collaborate with SOC, SRE, and IT teams to integrate security into CI/CD pipelines, incident response workflows, and infrastructure automation practices.
  • Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development and build scalable, reusable security automation frameworks.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in network security engineering, including automation and infrastructure-focused development.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or similar backend languages, with experience building production-grade APIs and automation systems.
  • Deep knowledge of network security concepts including firewall policy design, ZTNA, micro-segmentation, DNS security, PKI, and traffic analysis.
  • Experience with tools and platforms such as Cloudflare, Zscaler, Palo Alto, or equivalent enterprise security technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation and CI/CD-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and security operations in regulated environments such as fintech or financial services is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments with strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Exposure to or interest in AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows is highly valued.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary package with additional bonus potential (range typically $145,000–$175,000 annually)
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible PTO policy and paid holidays, including parental and family leave
  • Remote-friendly work environment with flexible work practices
  • Lifestyle spending account, tuition reimbursement, and additional employee stipends
  • Learning and development support for certifications and professional growth
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge, cloud-native security systems in a high-impact environment
