Description:

Bring your culinary skills and join our team, as a Cook, at the Toasted Barrel located at the Residence Inn by Marriott Gaslamp. We are currently hiring Full Time and/or Part Time evening cooks to support our growing Food & Beverage operation.

This position may require flexible scheduling availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Sunday - Thursday shifts are 3:30pm - 10:00pm, Fridays & Saturdays 3:30pm - 11:30pm however hours may vary based on business levels, events, or the operational needs of the hotel.

Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • Prepare and plate all menu items according to recipes and standards
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation, and portioning standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, prep areas, counters, storage areas, and floors
  • Follow local health, sanitation, and food safety regulations at all times
  • Ensure kitchen areas remain properly stocked throughout service
  • Receive and organize food and beverage deliveries as needed
  • Follow FIFO methods and proper food storage procedures
  • Assist with banquet/event support as needed
  • Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stovetops, microwaves, and other food preparation equipment safely and efficiently
Job Qualifications:
  • Previous cook, line cook, or kitchen experience preferred
  • Comfortable working independently and managing kitchen responsibilities during slower or solo shifts
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly to changing business levels
  • Comfortable handling both steady and high-volume periods while maintaining quality standards
  • Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and operational standards consistently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food quality
  • Team-oriented attitude with a positive and dependable work ethic
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, food handling, and sanitation practices

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The number of hours you will be scheduled to work during the week is variable and is based on guest occupancy, season, staffing and other factors. Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
