Steel Fabrication Specialist (Structural)

Location: Arlington, TN
Pay: Starting at $21/hr (based on experience)
Shift: 2nd Shift | 4:00 PM – 3:00 AM, Monday – Friday (some Saturdays required)

Overview

We are hiring an experienced Steel Fabrication Specialist to support production in a high-volume fabrication shop. This role focuses on fitting and assembling structural steel components using blueprints, tools, and industry-standard processes.

  • Inspect fit-up, alignment, and dimensions to ensure accuracy prior to final welding
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while meeting production timelines
Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout details for structural steel projects
  • Fit and assemble components such as beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals
  • Perform layout work, measuring, cutting, and assembly using proper fabrication methods
  • Operate shop equipment including ironworkers, mag drills, band saws, grinders, plasma cutters, and oxy-fuel torches
  • Prepare materials for welding by tack fitting and aligning assemblies
  • Utilize overhead cranes, rigging, and material handling equipment safely
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in structural steel fitting or fabrication preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
  • Hands-on experience with layout, fit-up, and steel fabrication processes
  • Familiarity with fabrication tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment
  • Ability to handle heavy materials and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Experience with overhead cranes and rigging is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in a fabrication environment
  • Ability to produce clean, high-quality FCAW welds on structural components
  • Comfortable welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
