Senior Mortgage Operations & Credit Manager

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Mortgage Operations & Credit Manager in South Africa.

This is a high-responsibility operational and credit-focused role within a fast-moving mortgage brokerage environment supporting Australian lending operations. You will take ownership of the end-to-end mortgage lifecycle, ensuring that applications progress efficiently from initial enquiry through to settlement without delays or breakdowns in communication. Acting as the key operational link between clients, brokers, lenders, and internal teams, you will evaluate lending scenarios, manage deal flow, and ensure optimal structuring for approval success. The role combines deep credit analysis with strong pipeline ownership and proactive deal management. You will play a critical role in maintaining momentum across multiple active files while safeguarding quality, compliance, and lender alignment. This is a fully remote position operating in AEST hours, suited for a highly accountable professional who thrives in ownership-heavy environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Evaluate residential and commercial lending scenarios by analyzing borrower financials, creditworthiness, serviceability, and risk factors to determine deal viability.
  • Recommend optimal loan structures and lender strategies based on policy alignment and client profile suitability.
  • Manage the full mortgage lifecycle from initial enquiry through to settlement, ensuring consistent progress and timely completion.
  • Oversee and prioritize multiple active deals simultaneously, ensuring no files are delayed or overlooked within the pipeline.
  • Proactively coordinate with clients, brokers, lenders, and internal teams to ensure all documentation and requirements are completed accurately.
  • Monitor pipeline health daily, identifying bottlenecks early and resolving issues to maintain deal momentum.
  • Maintain accurate status updates and operational visibility across all active mortgage files.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with lenders and financial partners to support deal progression.
  • Train, mentor, and support junior or administrative staff while ensuring adherence to operational standards and processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows, SOPs, and overall operational efficiency.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in mortgage broking, credit analysis, lending operations, or mortgage settlement roles.
  • Strong understanding of the Australian lending environment, including lender policies, credit assessment standards, and serviceability calculations.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end mortgage processes, including complex lending scenarios and non-standard borrower profiles.
  • Hands-on experience working with self-employed borrowers and time-sensitive applications.
  • Strong credit evaluation skills, including risk assessment, loan structuring, and lender matching.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active mortgage files simultaneously without loss of accuracy or control.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience interacting directly with lenders and financial institutions.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and disciplined pipeline management capability.
  • Proficiency with mortgage and operational tools such as CRMs, loan aggregators, document systems, and productivity platforms.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and support junior team members in an operational setting.
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability in managing end-to-end deal flow.
