Associate Aquatics Director
The Aquatic and Track Center at Mylan Park is currently accepting applications for an Associate Aquatics Director. The Associate Aquatics Director serves as a senior operational leader within the aquatics arena at the Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. This role provides strategic and day-to-day leadership support to the Assistant General Manager – Aquatics while directly supervising key aquatics operations, programming, staffing, and customer experience initiatives.
The Associate Aquatics Director functions as the second-tier leadership position within the aquatics management structure, operating above the Aquatics Director level and serving as a critical bridge to executive aquatics leadership. This position is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, staff development, program quality, safety compliance, and exceptional guest experiences across all aquatic offerings.
Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & OperationsAssist the Assistant GM – Aquatics with overall department strategy, operational planning, and execution.
Provide leadership oversight for daily aquatic facility operations, including competitive pools, recreational aquatic spaces, events, and programming.
Support long-range planning, departmental initiatives, and operational improvements.
Support budget planning, execution, reporting and analytics for all Aquatic related revenue generating programs.
Serve as acting department lead in the absence of the Assistant GM – Aquatics.
Ensure all aquatics operations align with organizational standards, safety protocols, and customer service expectations.
Supervise and mentor aquatics leadership staff, including Aquatics Directors, Coordinators, Supervisors, and frontline team members.
Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
Foster a positive, professional, and accountability-driven team culture.
Lead ongoing staff development and certification compliance initiatives.
Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of aquatics programming, including:
Learn-to-swim programs
Competitive swimming and diving events
Lifeguard training
Community programming
Special events and rentals
Support event operations and tournament logistics for local, regional, and national aquatic competitions.
Maintain the highest standards of aquatic safety and risk management.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national health and safety regulations.
Monitor and enforce lifeguard certification requirements, emergency action plans, and facility safety procedures.
Participate in incident review and corrective action processes.
Assist with departmental budgeting, payroll oversight, purchasing, and inventory management.
Monitor operational efficiency and resource utilization.
Prepare reports, operational summaries, and performance metrics as assigned.
Promote a welcoming, service-oriented environment for guests, athletes, families, partners, and community members.
Address escalated customer concerns professionally and effectively.
Support partnerships with schools, clubs, governing bodies, and community organizations.
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive aquatics leadership experience.
Experience managing aquatic facilities, programs, staff, and events preferred.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in scheduling, operational systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certifications (current or ability to obtain)
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred or ability to obtain within designated timeframe
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (current or ability to obtain)
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer preferred
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in indoor aquatic environments with exposure to humidity and pool chemicals.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
This position may require evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible scheduling based on facility operations, programming, and events.
