Position Overview
This position involves the performance of molecular genetics assays, laboratory administrative tasks, and general laboratory maintenance within the Pharmacogenomics / MassArray pipeline.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Laboratory Bench Work
- Using molecular genetic techniques to perform laboratory procedures within the Pharmacogenomics MassArray pipeline;
- Using manual laboratory techniques as well as high throughput tools (eg. automated liquid handling instrumentation) to complete laboratory assays.
- Laboratory Instrumentation
- Working with Agena MassArray and 3730XL Capillary Electrophoresis instrumentation to complete laboratory assays.
- Laboratory Administrative Functions
- Maintaining records, performing sample tracking, and creating assay plate orders.
- General Laboratory Maintenance Functions
- Assisting with reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, assay development, and troubleshooting;
- Following all laboratory procedures and policies, including quality control and quality system activities, and documenting appropriately all records, deviations, and corrective actions as required.
Position Requirements
- 4 year Bachelor degree or higher in a Biological Science or related field.
- Previous experience in a molecular biology or clinical laboratory environment with demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques.
- Demonstrated understanding of general molecular biology principles and concepts.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and precision.
- Computer literacy of Microsoft Word and Excel and/or Google Sheets, including the ability to navigate complex spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with navigating LIMS tracking systems.
- This is an active position and requires being on your feet, moving between lab benches and instruments for most of the day.
- MB (ASCP) Certification is preferred.
