Position Summary

The Shuttle Service & Transportation Program Coordinator leads the planning, operations, and contractual aspects of our multi-campus shuttle system across the Atlanta University Center campuses. In this role, the Transportation Coordinator will coordinate outsourced shuttle providers, oversee onboard technology, and steer fleet management and on-demand mobility initiatives. The role will partner with vendors and campus departments to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.


Excellent communication is essential: the Transportation Program Coordinator keeps the campus community informed about how the shuttle operates and how to access it, with regular updates and proactive reminders to ensure seamless service across all campuses and affiliated properties. This role offers hands-on operational leadership with meaningful opportunities to develop management and logistics skills as you scale and optimize the program.

Primary Responsibilities

The Transportation Coordinator will blend operational excellence with proactive communication to keep passengers, faculty, and staff informed and satisfied. The role owns end-to-end coordination, from daily shuttle operations and vendor management to system optimization and stakeholder updates, ensuring consistency, compliance, and cost-efficiency.


The role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented approach and a collaborative mindset, partnering with campus departments, vendors, and leadership to standardize processes as the program scales. Early in your tenure, you’ll focus on establishing repeatable workflows and service quality standards; as the program matures, you’ll contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives. A strong emphasis on clear, timely communications ensures every user knows how to access the service and understands any changes, delays, or enhancements.


The responsibilities are organized into three major categories to lay the foundation for scalable growth and continuous quality: Operational Management, System Management, and Communications Management: —.


  • Operational Management
  • Direct day-to-day oversight of transportation service delivery and contracted shuttle service vendor.
  • Conduct regular service audits and performance reviews.
  • Monitor service performance against contractual KPIs including, but not limited to, on time performance, customer service, and safety compliance.
  • Work with contracted vendors to ensure shuttles are clean, operational, and meet the standards set for the Atlanta University Center. Inspect maintenance and vehicle compliance reports.
  • Coordinate shuttle services for special events, peak periods, and emergency operations.

  • System Management
  • Manage transportation technology equipment, systems, and vendor(s) to ensure equipment is operational and communicating properly for passenger benefit and reporting statistics.
  • Create and evaluate system performance reporting to include passenger satisfaction, on-time service delivery, and customer experience. Present findings to management regularly with recommendations for improvements as required.
  • Contract adherence management and participate in amendments, renewals, and scope modification discussions as needed.
  • Oversee and inspect the transportation system’s budgets and financial performance. Manage and audit vendor invoices for accuracy and service delivery. Develop and manage annual transportation operating budgets; prepare cost projections related to system changes.
  • Safety and compliance management to confirm adherence to all federal, state and local transportation regulations, confirm vehicle and driver credential verification process and monitor safety incidents and coordinate corrective action plans.

  • Communications Management
  • Develop rider communication protocols for delays, route changes, and service updates.
  • Monitor rider feedback and satisfaction metrics.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to assess transportation needs.
  • Maintain public transportation webpages and rider guides.
  • Coordinate and publish all internal and external social media updates. Develop website content and meet with passengers and campus groups as an ambassador for the transportation system.

  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, Public Administration, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in logistics, fleet, transportation, service delivery management operations, or contract administration.
  • Proficiency with operational management and analytics software. Ability to quickly learn new software packages and utilize reporting and analytical features as a management tool.
  • Experience working with outsourced service providers.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and budget management, as well as the ability to understand and manage regulatory compliance standards.

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or multi-site nonprofit environments
  • Experience implementing GPS tracking or transportation technology systems
  • Familiarity with micro-transit or on-demand mobility solutions
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills
