This role supports critical network infrastructure operations within a large-scale, mission-driven environment focused on healthcare and defense-related services. You will contribute to the stability, performance, and security of LAN/WLAN networks across multiple sites, ensuring reliable connectivity for essential users and systems. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will participate in configuration management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and system integration activities. The position combines hands-on technical work with structured operational processes, including ITSM ticketing and SLA-driven support. You will support day-to-day network operations by assisting with installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network hardware and software under senior engineer guidance. You will help ensure system stability by identifying performance issues, responding to alerts, and supporting troubleshooting efforts across LAN/WLAN environments.
- Assist in implementing approved network configuration changes and infrastructure upgrades
- Monitor network performance and respond to anomalies using enterprise monitoring tools
- Manage and resolve ITSM tickets within defined SLA timeframes, ensuring timely customer support
- Support system integration, testing, and validation of network changes across environments
- Contribute to network inventory management, documentation updates, and configuration accuracy
- Participate in troubleshooting escalated Tier 2/3 incidents and coordinate with senior engineers
- Assist with reporting, trend analysis, and continuous improvement of network operations processes
This role requires foundational network engineering knowledge, hands-on technical experience, and familiarity with enterprise networking environments. You should be comfortable working with standard networking protocols, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and using IT service management tools in a structured operational setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3–5 years of relevant networking or infrastructure support experience
- Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance (required)
- DoD 8570/8140 certification compliance required
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, and SNMP protocols
- Experience with Cisco IOS, routed/switched networks, and LAN/WLAN environments
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or similar platforms
- Basic knowledge of network security concepts including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS
- Experience using ServiceNow or comparable ITSM ticketing systems
- Exposure to Windows, Active Directory, and basic UNIX/Linux environments
- Understanding of Ethernet standards (802.3, 802.11) and network diagnostics tools
