Basic Purpose
Provides 24-hour, 365 days-per-year direct support to gas operations by prioritizing emergency response needs and dispatching the appropriate personnel to expedite response and restoration of service.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for direct customer contact during and after normal work hours, with a major emphasis on safety, courteous, reliable, and quality customer service, while conveying a positive company image to the community.
Creates, manages, and assigns work orders for maintenance activities. Analyzes and monitors work in progress and work assignments for various gas operational groups to ensure that the appropriate personnel are dispatched to the work site timely and effectively.
Ensures prompt, efficient service personnel response for gas service emergencies, and other customer related problems by quickly analyzing situational information and acting within company guidelines and procedures.
Effectively interprets gas mapping and other data sources to provide effective information and direction to field and supervisory personnel related to gas emergencies, outages, and system control operations. Creates, manages and assigns work orders for emergency activities.
Provides timely and concise information through company notification and information systems to appropriate employee and management groups providing details of gas emergencies and other events in the gas system. Ensures communication flows to and from emergency response agencies, field personnel, and supervision timely and consistently. Utilizes multiple information sources and effectively makes decisions related to emergency response and customer service/safety by following established procedures.
Provides accurate and comprehensive documentation for reporting of gas operations activities and emergencies utilizing various company reporting systems.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited school and 3 years of working experience with 2 years being in gas utility experience.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have 7 years of working experience with 2 years being in gas utility experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
Gas division policies, procedures, all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations governing gas operations.
Skills such as:
Planning, time management, decision making and interpersonal
Computer skills related to gas mapping, customer service, dispatch, work management, and system control operations
Anticipating work needs and follow through with minimum direction
Adaptability to changing priorities and work demands.
Managing multiple events effectively and appropriately.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required. Able to work rotating shifts. This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) under the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA). Any applicant/employee who will perform on a pipeline, an operating, maintenance, or emergency response function regulated by Part 192, 193, or 195, will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under the Company’s PHMSA drug and alcohol testing programs. Any employment, transfer, or promotion offer made for this position is contingent upon taking and passing a drug test prior to the commencement of the new role. If an applicant/employee fails the drug test, any offer of employment, transfer, or promotion will be revoked.
