Not a remote or hybrid position. This role requires 100% onsite work in Cordova, Alaska.

Following all policy and procedures and under the guidance of the Laboratory Supervisor, provide clerical and technical support through reception, specimen processing and laboratory organization.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Performs laboratory testing and associated activities (e.g., specimen collection and processing, QC, maintenance, etc.)

· Accept samples for on-site testing or for sending to contracted reference laboratories.

· Reviews lab sample integrity, ensuring labelling and paperwork are correct. Resolves discrepancies with documentation.

· Review manually entered results daily to ensure accuracy.

· Assists with maintenance procedures of laboratory equipment.

· Assists with laboratory space organization, reception, record maintenance, scheduling and general duties to facilitate lab administration.

· Assist in preparing lab for inspection from regulatory institutions.

· Actively participate in Laboratory Quality Assurance activities with emphasis on ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.

· Perform Quality Control (QC), troubleshooting, and appropriate documentation as directed by Laboratory Supervisor.

· Provide customer service for questions directed at the laboratory from providers and patients.

· Analyze and verify data in the computer system.

· Write and run reports as required to provide operating procedures, test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques.

· Monitor, maintain, order, and stock laboratory supplies.

· Maintain medical laboratory equipment through inspection, compliance, certification, and coordinating repair.

· If applicable, coordinate with Lab Director to ensure accreditation compliance.

· Maintain MSDS

· Participate in continuing education programs.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Skill, or ability to learn laboratory equipment operations and laboratory information system (LIS) applications and pass required laboratory competency exams.

· Knowledge of clinical processes and medical terminology is helpful.

· Knowledge of applicable federal, state, hospital, and regulatory committee rules and regulations.

· Strong written, analytical, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to keep accurate records and produce timely and accurate written reports.

· Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations, which includes only accessing appropriate information needed to perform job duties.

· Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.

· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships, including outside contacts.

· Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Experience in a clinical or laboratory setting preferred.

· CPR Pro or BLS certificate required at hire or within 3 months of hire.

Physical Requirements:

· Work will be completed in an outpatient clinic laboratory and is often sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 25 lbs.

· Regularly manipulate electronic data to gather, input and otherwise coordinate work.

· Regularly use mental, oral, and written methods to complete work.

· Category I: Tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact exposure to blood, fluids, or tissue. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), when appropriate, is required.
