This role sits at the core of a fast-scaling, AI-native engineering organization where you will shape both the technical foundation and the engineering culture from the ground up. You will build and own critical backend systems, distributed infrastructure, and agent-powered workflows that directly influence company performance, efficiency, and customer experience. Working closely with leadership, you’ll tackle high-leverage problems spanning data processing, internal tooling, automation, and platform reliability. The environment is highly ownership-driven, fast-moving, and built for engineers who thrive in ambiguity and want end-to-end impact. You’ll also play a key role in defining how AI tools and engineering agents are used in production development. This is a hands-on leadership role where shipping fast and building durable systems go hand in hand.

You will be responsible for building and evolving core backend systems, distributed services, and internal platforms that support enterprise-scale automation and operations. This includes designing reliable architectures for data ingestion, search, payments, reporting, and internal copilots while ensuring scalability and performance. You will also lead the development of AI-native engineering workflows, including agentic systems, CI/CD safeguards, evaluation loops, and observability frameworks that enable safe and efficient AI-assisted development.

• Architect and improve backend systems, APIs, and distributed infrastructure powering core business workflows
• Build AI-native engineering systems, including agent harnesses, evaluation pipelines, and production guardrails
• Design scalable data pipelines, search systems, and internal automation tools supporting operational efficiency
• Lead technical execution using Python-based stacks (Django, FastAPI) and PostgreSQL systems
• Establish engineering standards, review processes, and reliability practices for production-grade systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, and business teams to translate needs into systems
• Mentor engineers and contribute to hiring and shaping a high-performance technical team

You bring strong backend engineering depth with hands-on experience owning production systems in high-growth environments. You are highly fluent in Python and PostgreSQL ecosystems and understand how to design scalable architectures under real operational constraints. You are comfortable working in ambiguous environments, breaking down complex business problems into structured technical systems, and leveraging AI tools as part of your daily engineering workflow.

• 6–12+ years of experience in backend or full-stack engineering roles with strong production ownership
• Strong expertise in Python (Django, FastAPI) and PostgreSQL with ORM experience
• Proven experience building and scaling distributed systems in startup or high-growth environments
• Hands-on familiarity with AI coding agents and modern developer tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor, MCP tools)
• Strong understanding of system design, APIs, concurrency, and production reliability practices
• Ability to decompose ambiguous requirements into clear technical specs and execution plans
• Leadership experience mentoring engineers or driving technical direction in small, high-ownership teams
• Strong product and systems thinking with a focus on long-term maintainability and scalability
