As a Sr. Java Software Developer, you will lead the delivery of mission-critical software solutions supporting a large-scale healthcare platform. Working in a fully remote Agile environment, you will oversee technical execution, guide cross-functional development teams, and ensure high-quality software releases from design through deployment. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with project coordination, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration. You will help shape architecture, promote engineering best practices, and drive continuous improvements across the software development lifecycle. - Lead the planning, prioritization, and successful delivery of software development initiatives while balancing new features, technical debt, accessibility requirements, and release schedules.
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between development, QA, DevOps, architecture, business analysts, and Agile teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide technical oversight by reviewing application architecture, system design, scalability, performance, maintainability, and integration strategies.
- Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, testing standards, documentation, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes.
- Monitor software quality, development metrics, and engineering performance while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle.
- Support production stability by participating in incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and long-term solution planning.
- Collaborate with product and business stakeholders to evaluate technical feasibility, define priorities, communicate project status, and manage technical risks.
- Ensure software solutions comply with applicable regulatory, security, and quality standards while maintaining complete documentation and traceability throughout development.
- Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in software engineering, application development, or systems development.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility in software development environments with experience leading technical initiatives or development teams.
- Strong expertise in Java, JavaScript, SQL, RESTful APIs, and modern CI/CD technologies.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end software delivery, ensuring solutions meet business requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Experience identifying technical risks, dependencies, and implementation challenges while proactively communicating solutions to stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with software architecture, design patterns, code quality standards, peer reviews, and testing best practices.
- Familiarity with low-code application platforms such as Appian, Salesforce, Pega, ServiceNow, OutSystems, Mendix, Oracle, Microsoft platforms, or similar technologies is considered an advantage.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Competitive annual salary ranging from $129,813 to $166,750, based on experience, location, and contractual requirements.
