Kona Kai San Diego Resort is a boutique urban resort located on Shelter Island. With 170 guestrooms, Kona Kai Resort is home to Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina and a private club, all located just minutes from downtown San Diego. We are excited to welcome a new Associate Director of Catering to our island-inspired resort.

THE JOB:

This role will report to: Director of Sales and Marketing

YOU:

As the Associate Director of Catering, you would drive catering revenue through proactive sales efforts, strategic event planning, and strong client relationship management. You would partner closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to identify new business opportunities, cultivate lasting client relationships, and maximize revenue growth. You would lead and support the catering team, provide guidance throughout the sales and planning process, and ensure every event is executed flawlessly. By upholding high service standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and focusing on exceptional guest experiences, you would help achieve the property's financial goals while creating memorable and successful events for clients and guests.

Requirements:

To be successful in this position, you:

  • Have experience in catering sales, event planning, and/or hotel sales within a hospitality environment.
  • Build strong relationships with clients while delivering exceptional service and memorable event experiences.
  • Generate new catering business through proactive sales efforts, networking, and account management.
  • Partner effectively with hotel departments to ensure seamless event execution and guest satisfaction.
  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Take ownership of your results, embrace feedback, and continuously look for opportunities to grow revenue and enhance the guest experience.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive catering sales experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets and building strong client relationships.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
