This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Business Development based in the United States.
This is a senior commercial leadership role focused on driving strategic growth through high-value partnerships in the commercial insurance ecosystem. You will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with carriers, brokers, agencies, and insurtech partners, playing a direct role in expanding market reach and revenue.
The role combines consultative enterprise sales with deep relationship management, requiring a strong ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deal cycles.
You will own the full business development lifecycle—from prospecting and opportunity qualification through negotiation, closing, and successful handoff to delivery teams.
A key part of the role involves leveraging industry expertise and network relationships to uncover new partnership opportunities and accelerate pipeline growth.
You will collaborate closely with executive leadership, product, and marketing teams to shape go-to-market strategies and partnership models.

- Identify, prioritize, and develop strategic partnership opportunities across carriers, brokers, agencies, and other insurance ecosystem stakeholders.
- Own and manage a robust pipeline of enterprise-level prospects, leveraging networking, referrals, and proactive outreach to drive growth.
- Lead the full sales cycle including prospecting, solution positioning, negotiations, and closing of complex partnership agreements.
- Build and present tailored pitch materials and commercial proposals that clearly articulate value and align with partner needs.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, product, and marketing teams to refine go-to-market strategies and expand new business opportunities.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and events, actively expanding market presence and partner networks.
- Ensure seamless transition of closed deals to account and delivery teams, maintaining alignment on expectations and commitments.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in business development, consultative sales, corporate development, or solution-based selling roles.
- Strong background in the insurance industry, with commercial insurance experience strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of managing and growing complex sales pipelines involving large enterprise or strategic accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to build prospecting strategies and generate new partnership opportunities independently.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills with executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience developing tailored solutions and structuring commercial agreements aligned with customer needs.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to evaluate deal economics, pricing, and long-term value creation.
- Willingness to travel as needed for conferences and client engagements within the United States.
