ACT Co-Occurring Recovery Specialist – Dakota County
4-Day Work Week Option Available
Location: Burnsville, MN
Salary Range: $59,656.00 - $67,456.00 annually
The ACT Co-Occurring Recovery Specialist is responsible for carrying out rehabilitation and support functions and assists in treatment; substance abuse services; education, support, and consultation to families; and crisis intervention in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team. This position will take a lead role in the provision of rehabilitation services for clients with dual diagnoses.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains awareness of each client’s medication adherence plan and provides services to assist client in carrying out the plan; evaluates adequacy of plan, reports problems and recommends modifications as needed.
- To the extent requested by the client, provide collaboration and education to significant others and family members who are interested in assisting the client in their recovery process.
- Advocate on behalf of each client to assure the protection of client rights and privacy, as well as assure that clients understand the complaint and grievance procedures.
- Treat all clients with dignity and respect, providing services that are respectful of age, gender, and culture.
- Educate and support clients and their families on signs, symptoms, and resources for people with dual diagnoses.
- Coordinate with outside inpatient services to detoxify clients and establish linkage to outpatient treatment, self-help programs, outpatient services and residential facilities.

- This position is responsible for providing chemical health assessments, referrals and services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness and to assume responsibility with other members of the ACT team for providing the services necessary to maintain and enhance each clients’ ability to live as independently as possible.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Baccalaureate degree in social work/psychology or human services related field with two years case management experience of which at least one year is experience in community based mental health with adults recovering from mental illness.
- One year of experience in substance abuse treatment or combination of equivalent experience and training.
- Ability to transport clients and perform outreach in the community.
- Ability to be flexible in prioritizing in a changing system.
- Ability to work on-call, evenings and weekends as scheduled.
