Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Assistant OR Manager, the Scheduling Coordinator is responsible and accountable for working hand in hand with both affiliated and non-affiliated physician’s offices as well as other hospital departments to schedule patients for all types of Peri-operative procedures/testing. The scheduling of appointments with Pre-surgical Testing may occur as the result of all of the following: electronic orders received, faxed orders received and phone call orders received. The scheduler functions as a liaison between physician’s offices and Peri-operative units of the hospital to ensure excellence in care is maintained throughout the continuum of care. Must be able to use the scheduling software to schedule procedures accurately. Other duties include timekeeping, call-schedule submission to Dispatch, and daily reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: 12 to 18 months related healthcare and/or customer service.

Other: Preferred applicant will have a working knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills. Adaptability to multiple systems is essential. Basic computer skills required.

Spend 8 hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse, daily. Ability to stand and walk, bend, squat, and twist, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds with proper body mechanics. Acuity to the five senses required. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure.
