Position Overview
The General Manager of Site Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for Xttrium’s pharmaceutical manufacturing facility specializing in liquid medicines, topical and oral dose forms. This role is responsible for driving production efficiency, ensuring absolute regulatory compliance, and managing the site budget. The General Manager will have oversight to approximately 125 team members. The ideal candidate will cultivate a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement while meeting commercial delivery targets through effective cross-functional leadership.
Core Responsibilities
- Site Leadership: Direct day-to-day operations across liquid manufacturing, compounding, non-sterile filling, packaging, line mechanics, warehouse, and engineering / maintenance departments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain 100% audit readiness and strict adherence to cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and environmental regulations specific to liquid formulations and microbial controls.
- Production & Capacity: Optimize plant throughput for high-volume or specialized liquid lines, manage formulation vessel utilization, and oversee technical transfers of new liquid products into the facility.
- Financial Management: Own the site’s P&L, manage the operational budget, and execute capital expenditure (CapEx) projects on time and in compliance.
- Operational Excellence: Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to reduce product loss, optimize Clean-in-Place (CIP) cycle times, improve yields, and lower manufacturing costs.
- People Development: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing site management team while fostering a strong safety culture.
- Data-Driven Leadership: Establish, monitor, and drive accountability through operational KPIs (including OEE, schedule attainment, yield, labor productivity, quality, safety, on-time delivery, and inventory), using data and dashboards to identify trends, prioritize improvements, and support fact-based decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related life science field. An MBA or advanced technical degree is preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior plant leadership role (e.g., Plant Manager, Director of Operations) managing mid-sized liquid or sterile dosage facilities.
- Technical Skills: Deep expertise in cGMP regulations, liquid compounding/mixing technologies, filling line automation, environmental monitoring, and specialized facility utility systems (Purified Water, Water for Injection, HVAC).
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing site-wide budgets, handling regulatory inspections, and leading large cross-functional teams.

The expected base compensation range for this position is between $210,000 and $260,000 USD. Actual compensation will depend on various factors.
