Job Description
Job Summary: The Material Handler provides support to the Shop by helping in many areas of manufacturing. This includes support to fitters, welders, hydro, paint, shipping, and other areas as assigned. The Material Handler needs to demonstrate a good working attitude and accept guidance from several lead people and multitask with work load. You will report directly to the Shop Manager.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform tasks as directed by lead personnel and Shop Supervisor
- Safely operates equipment such as forklifts, heat treat oven, hydro equipment, and other equipment used in manufacturing of heavy equipment
- Support the manufacturing shop with staging parts and pieces, blasting, and shipping
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures
- All other tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Proven manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of basic shop equipment
- Must be available to work on some Saturdays
- Must wear personal protection equipment (PPE)
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of normal operating states of shop equipment with regards to safety
- Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in English

Physical Requirements and other items to communicate:
Ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, push and pull equipment. Ability to move heavy materials and equipment. Crouches, kneels, stoops, reaches, and turns over for 90% of shift. Ability to recognize differences in sound generated by equipment or machinery, which may indicate operating problems or safety concerns. Work in a high-pace manufacturing environment, ability to multitask and prioritize workload by sharing workspace with interruptions from others.
