SummaryThe Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing all aspects of store operations, team leadership, and customer service. This role requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to perform and oversee all store functions. The Assistant Manager is expected to step into any operational role as needed to ensure business continuity and high service standards.The Assistant Store Manager is a key leadership role, supporting the Store Manager in managing all facets of store operations, team management, and maintaining excellent customer service. This position demands a high degree of flexibility and reliability. The Assistant Manager must be proficient in, and capable of overseeing, all store functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager assumes all store leader responsibilities during the store leader's absence or unavailability, including performing bank deposits and processing vendor invoices.
The role necessitates the provision of superior, high-quality customer service through consistent interaction and serves as a role model for team members regarding upselling and product promotion.
The Assistant Manager assists customers and is responsible for addressing customer complaints or inquiries.
The Assistant Manager is accountable for the accurate completion of daily reports and the review of daily closing reports.
Responsibilities include maintaining store inventory, which encompasses the accurate completion of the daily cigarette count.
The Assistant Manager processes the weekly product order scan, subject to verification by the store manager.
This role is responsible for leading the training of new employees, upholding high standards of performance for all store personnel, and submitting necessary disciplinary documentation.
The Assistant Manager conducts performance reviews for part-time team members.
Flexibility is essential, and the Assistant Manager may be required to cover shifts.
The Assistant Manager ensures the compliance of store personnel with company policies and procedures, including established security, sales, and record-keeping procedures and practices.
The role involves merchandising the store in accordance with company guidelines.
The Assistant Manager supports the store manager in managing labor allocation based on store traffic.
Maintaining the store's professional image at all times is mandatory.
Work Expectations & Flexibility Requirements
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required.
Must be willing and able to cover shifts and perform all store-level duties in the event of employee absences, call-outs, or business needs.
This role requires the ability to perform multiple operational functions, including but not limited to cashiering, food service (deli), cleaning (including restrooms), stocking, and working in refrigerated or cooler environments.
Employees are expected to remain fit for duty and capable of performing the essential functions of the role at all times.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior retail or food service experience preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
ServSafe Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and working in confined or temperature-controlled environments (coolers/freezers).
