Senior Software Engineer, Dev Ops

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Dev Ops based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to design and optimize the cloud infrastructure and delivery platforms that support large-scale SaaS solutions.
You will play a key part in improving engineering velocity through automation, CI/CD excellence, and modern DevOps practices.
The position combines cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, security, and operational reliability.
You will collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure platforms.
The role is ideal for an experienced DevOps professional passionate about automation and solving complex technical challenges.
You will contribute to improving developer experience, system performance, and the reliability of mission-critical applications.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior Software Engineer, DevOps, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational capabilities. You will help engineering teams deliver secure, reliable, and scalable software while promoting automation and DevOps best practices across the organization.

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines that automate software development, testing, deployment, and release processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase deployment efficiency, reliability, and developer productivity.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using technologies such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Design, support, and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Build and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Improve platform reliability through observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and proactive risk management.
  • Implement security best practices, including access controls, encryption, vulnerability management, and secure infrastructure design.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and product teams to support scalable application development and deployment strategies.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term platform evolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and promote engineering excellence, automation-first approaches, and continuous learning.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced DevOps engineer with strong cloud, automation, and infrastructure expertise. You should have a proven ability to design reliable systems, solve complex technical problems, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, building, and supporting scalable software and infrastructure solutions.
  • Hands-on experience managing production workloads in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Strong experience implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery practices.
  • Proven knowledge of cloud-native architectures, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, distributed systems, and multi-tenant environments.
  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Experience with container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Familiarity with cloud security practices and modern application security principles.
  • Experience with software development technologies such as .NET Core/.NET Framework, Java, and JavaScript.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and with modern software delivery tools such as Jira is preferred.
  • Cloud certifications in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Kubernetes are a plus.
  • Experience supporting large-scale SaaS platforms and highly available cloud architectures is preferred.
