Job Description

The teacher is responsible for working in conjunction with other grade level teachers to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program for their grade level learning environment. Teachers must guide and encourage students to discover God’s plan for their lives and achieve their full potential; academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

Tasks:

  • Teach classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequences.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials, equipment, and technology.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress, development and disciplinary actions.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Respond to parent communication in a prompt manner.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.
  • Develop, assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Monitor and supervise, and at times, participate with students on school grounds throughout the school day including during recess, upon school commencement and dismissal.
  • Supervise and attend assigned extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings.
  • Cooperate with the Board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
  • Recognize the need for good public relations. Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
  • Motivate students to grow in their faith.
  • Maintain daily devotionals with students
  • Develop and maintain required records for student achievement
  • Create and maintain a safe environment for students
  • Manage incidents with students and communicate with parents and administration
  • Adhere to FCC Conduct Covenant and FCC Staff Statement of Ethics
  • Collaborate with other staff to help fulfill the vision and mission of the church & school
  • All other duties as assigned by the Head of School with or without advance notice

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Teaching Credential
  • Demonstrated experience in related field
  • English language

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, talk, and hear.
  • Regularly subjected to both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
