Job Description

Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) SR

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Database Reliability Engineer DBRE SR in Brazil.

This role is designed for a senior data reliability specialist who will ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of critical database systems in a high-scale digital health environment. You will act as a key guardian of data infrastructure, combining deep technical expertise with a proactive reliability mindset. The position involves monitoring, optimizing, and evolving complex database ecosystems that support millions of users and high-volume healthcare operations. You will collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to define standards and drive best practices. The environment is fast-paced, mission-driven, and highly regulated, requiring strong attention to performance, security, and compliance. This is a strategic role where your work directly impacts system availability, patient experience, and platform reliability.

Accountabilities:
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying slow queries, bottlenecks, locking issues, index inefficiencies, and capacity constraints, while defining alerts, thresholds, and remediation plans.
  • Lead capacity planning initiatives and support the evolution of database architecture to ensure scalability aligned with product growth and system demand.
  • Review and validate queries, schemas, and data models, acting as a technical reference and enforcing engineering best practices across teams.
  • Define and maintain organizational database standards including schema design, versioning, naming conventions, integrity rules, and migration strategies.
  • Manage database change lifecycle across development, staging, and production environments, ensuring safe CI/CD-driven schema deployments and rollback strategies.
  • Design and operate backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring compliance with defined RPO/RTO and conducting periodic recovery testing.
  • Enforce security and compliance policies, including access controls, auditing, and adherence to regulations such as LGPD and internal security frameworks.
  • Develop internal tools and automation to improve database observability, developer experience, and operational scalability across engineering teams.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience as a DBA, DBRE, SRE focused on data systems, or Data Engineer with strong emphasis on reliability in production environments.
  • Advanced SQL expertise, including query tuning, execution plan analysis, index optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of relational data modeling, schema versioning, and database migration strategies.
  • Experience with backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery planning and execution in production systems.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-managed databases such as AWS RDS, Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, or equivalent solutions.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for database changes, including versioned migrations and controlled deployments.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, or similar platforms for database monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of database security principles, including least privilege access, auditing, and governance practices.
  • Experience with high-scale, distributed systems and regulated environments is a strong plus.
  • Nice to have experience with NoSQL databases, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and building internal developer tooling.

Benefits:

  • Monthly flexible credit card benefit covering food, meals, mobility, health, home office, education, and culture expenses.
  • Comprehensive health plan with optional dependent coverage.
  • Medical prescription support benefit for medication purchases.
  • Access to mental and physical wellness platforms with online consultations.
  • Extended maternity and paternity leave programs with additional family support.
  • Life insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Birthday day off to celebrate your special day.
  • Discounts and partnerships for education, sports, and lifestyle programs.
  • Transportation assistance option.
  • Wellness platforms such as fitness and health programs.
