Job Description

Production Planning Specialist

Associates in the Production Planning Specialist position are responsible for creating master specifications, general material specifications, production jobs and work instructions used to communicate the details of a customer’s order per the item’s specification. The Production Planning Specialist is also responsible for reviewing and updating the specification as needed. This position will also be called upon to assist other members of the Supply Chain Team to achieve their objectives on an as-needed basis. In the event of absence, these job responsibilities will be covered by another employee in the “Production Planning Specialist” position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

This job description and performance standard document has been prepared as a guide to ensure better communication and understanding. Likewise, this description will be revised when required to meet current business needs.

  • Production Job creation of all New, Repeat with change, Repeat, and Trial jobs
  • Create general material specifications for new products or revisions to existing products.
  • Work Instruction assembly to communicate the needs and expectations of the customer in a format that is easy to understand in all production departments.
  • Review and Approve Work Instructions for Production.
  • Develop and maintain Master Estimates for all product types.
  • Technical review of artwork and specifications to ensure accuracy in product development.
  • Perform post-production analysis and implement necessary changes to items or master specifications.
  • Participation in Continuous Improvement of Information System.
  • Generates improvement ideas and embraces improvement projects to better the business.
  • Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science preferred, or closely related technical field.
  • Detail orientation required for information system’s inputs with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Is guided by core values that represent customer service, continuous improvement, an energetic attitude, and a sense of urgency, and understands the value of “please” and “thank you.”
  • Previous flexographic printing experience and mechanical aptitude/experience are highly preferred.
  • Previous production experience in an industrial production environment with related safety training is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows computing programs and experience with business operating systems a must with some degree of proficiency required.
  • Able to create, proofread and understand work instructions, and provide verbal direction to successfully complete procedures and required tasks.
  • Flexibility in work assignments and priorities is required to address the dynamic needs of our customers and shifts in production requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly ascertain processes, perform mathematical calculations and identify and rectify potential problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment, managing time-critical activities encompassing multiple departments.
  • Proven track record of being self-directed, and results orientated with demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive goals while coordinating multiple projects and priorities.

  • Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift 30 to 40 pounds.
  • Able to sit at a workstation for most of the shift.
  • No Travel required.
